Search Tips
The BIG fashion colour at the moment is one called “nude”, which is basically the colour of bare skin. Specifically, it’s the colour of white European skin – Lady Godiva without the hair if you like.
Now, you’re not going to find any bead colours or jewellery styles called nude. What you can search for are the following colour descriptions: au lait; beige; biscuit; blush; buff; carnation; champagne; cream; ivoire; ivory; latte; peach; sand; silk; taupe. These terms reflect a range of lighter skin tones, and only you will know if it’s the “nude” you want when you see it.
Another colour that has been big for a couple of seasons now, and is predicted to be just as popular for the next few, is turquoise. As well as searching for turquoise, also check out aqua, aquamarine, blue-green, blue zircon, Caribbean blue opal, chrysocolla, indicolite, Pacific opal, teal.
I think more women love purple than any other colour, and purple can hide behind a number of aliases. Try a search for alexandrite, amethyst, aubergine, burgundy, grape, lavender, lilac, mauve, plum, tanzanite, violet, wine or wisteria to see what a range of colour depths purple can have. Dark indigo, a blend of navy blue and purple, is considered by some fashion writers to be “the new black” as it’s such a great neutral.
Pink is another colour with aliases. Try searching for berry, blush, cyclamen, flamingo, fuchsia, padparadscha, peach, raspberry, rosaline, rose, ruby (a pinkish-red), salmon, strawberry, watermelon.
If you’re a great collector of certain shapes, say starfish, then try searching by that word. The results will not only show the items in the visible website categories, but will also reveal any items containing starfish in categories that are hidden most of the time. My Christmas ranges are only unveiled in October and are hidden again in January, but if you know what you’re after then a specific search will reveal items in those ranges that are still available for purchase even if their category doesn’t appear on the browser sidebar.
